In general using the barrel shroud length of any given 1911 and subtracting the plug head depth will provide the maximum solid damper height. The maximum solid damper height of the 1911 can be compared to the specifications below as an aid in determining product selection and applicability. Maximum plug spacer height is the thickness of a spacer required for maximum compression when used with a stock or COLT® OEM recoil spring plug. The plug spacer is installed between the recoil spring plug's internal face and the damper's recoil spring retainer face.
